5/16/2017 0 Comments Summarizing Broadcast Tech. This year in Broadcast I learned many new techniques.I thought this class was a really good learning experience for me because it taught me how to make a picture or video more appealing to someones eye just from my phone. Honestly I did not know what to expect when I first walked into this class. I did not know whether it was going to be boring or If I was going to have a blast. Turns out I had a an amazing semester in Broadcast Tech.! I loved the people in my class and the videos we got to make. I learned so much about editing with the interviewing process and I also realized that I like Final Cut Pro way better than iMovie. Overall, this class was beyond what I expected and I am glad that I took it!

5/3/2017 1 Comment Interviewing Dr.GoodFor my interview, we picked Dr.Good. The thought about picking Dr.Good was not only because he is my favorite teacher, and he is also retiring. The interview was really fun for me because I felt way more confident with the camera angles and setting all the camera equipment up. The best part was listening to Dr. Goods' explanations as he was being asked the questions/ The hardest part throughout filming was probably getting him at an angle that captured him moving around a lot and having it at a satisfying look for the audience. I say that because, when he teaches he becomes really interested in to what he is teaching and he ends up like demonstrating so much throughout his lectures that it is hard to capture him just standing still. The editing also was not my favorite because it was hard to select the best parts of the interview and making sure everything still looked alright and flowed easily. I also had to edit things out a lot because he move around so much. Overall, this was by far my favorite interview because it captured my interests a lot and I can't wait for everyone to see the hard work I put into it.
4/10/2017 0 Comments Everybody Has A Story In class today, We watched six videos that basically showed me that everyone does have a story. The two stories that had a bigger affect on me were the six year old boy who seeks smiles and the middle school football players. The boy who seeks smiles known as Jaden Hayes had a really amazing story! He lost his father when he was just four years old and then lost his mom suddenly at just six years old. Now living with his aunt he realized that he didn't like seeing people sad and with that he decided that he would get toys like rubber duckies and just randomly give them to people hoping to put a big smile on their face and make there day better! It also helped me with recognizing"Hey...You..See...So" throughout the video. When it started off with the "Hey" it had Jaden playing basketball at his house and a couple seconds later it said that he had a lost both his parents at just the age of six. I remember I kept on watching it just for that reason because I wanted to know more; I wanted to know how he was still smiling and being happy. I realized that moment that Steve Hartman had made me so interested in Jaden in less than 30 seconds and that's when I was like I need to capture my audience just like he did! During the second video with the middle school players from Olivet Middle School, I feel like the live video of Keith, who was the boy who wasn't very well known made the game winning touchdown, they showed me how big of an impact these football players had on one kid and to see the wide receiver on the team become emotional about helping Keith out during the game and realizing that if it weren't for that one person to stand up and come up with this plan, he wouldn't have ever thought about giving Keith that final game winning play. This one really helped me realize how to incorporate the "So" in a video. These two videos helped me realize that everyday is a new day and everyone is fighting something and just to be able to make someones day better whether it's a big or small gesture can have a major impact!

I liked the preparation that happened before we went out to interview because I realized that if I was just sent out to interview someone I wouldn't know the right camera angles or even what type of questions to ask. I felt like I was really prepped to go out and Interview someone! For this interview, I interviewed my moms boyfriend about baseball. The reason I picked baseball was because during high school he was a left handed pitcher for the Pattonville Pirates but in his senior year he hurt his rotator cuff in his left arm. With his injuries he ended up having to quit baseball even though he was planning on playing professional baseball. During my interview he talks about his injury, his best accomplishments and even his struggles during baseball season. Before interviewing him I only knew that he played baseball during high school but, thanks to the interview I learned so much more about him and his high school baseball career!Even though it was a really cool experience, it still made me very nervous!
2/23/2017 0 Comments My Six Word StoryDuring the six word story video process, I had a really hard time coming up with six words that I could make into a story! It's not the fact that I had trouble with a story idea I just had a really hard time trying to condense a huge story idea into just six words. Although, I had trouble coming up with six words I did have a lot of fun making the video and being able to show my ideas through the camera. My favorite part of the whole entire six word story process was the editing! I thought that the editing process was very easy and I knew where everything to edit my video was, which made the editing go by so much faster than before! I really enjoyed this project and getting to use many different angles and just have fun with it overall!2/13/2017 0 Comments Six Word StoriesIn Ernest Hemingway's six word story "For sale, Baby shoes, Never worn.", it makes you think about the context behind the story and many people have different interpretations of this story, however I think that it means that the parents of the baby had a miscarriage and now there trying to give the shoes to someone else. While looking through websites for six word story ideas I came across a couple that I really liked! I like these six word stories because there are so many details and its so much deeper than the six words that appear. I also think with these six word stories that you can draw your on conclusions about what happened, which I think is really cool!
"Born a twin; Graduated only child" "Paramedics finished her text, "...love you." "Strangers. Friends. Best friends. Lovers. Strangers." http://www.sixwordstories.net During the editing process, I thought it was really simple and everything was very self explanatory. I think the only hard part was remembering to change the end of the video to .mov but, that will just take some getting used to. My favorite part of editing was the fact that I got to make it my own and if I didn't have good lighting in a room I could change it on Final Cut Pro which really helps!Overall I think that editing is really basic and I can't wait what my future videos will look like after they have been edited!!
1/26/2017 0 Comments Video Scavenger HuntThis week in Broadcast Technology, We had to go on a scavenger hunt around the school. During this scavenger hunt we had to take videos of certain things and incorporate wide, medium, and tight shots. We also had to make sure we adjusted the light and kept the natural light behind the camera instead of in front due to the fact that the light would lead to the video being way to bright. This video scavenger hunt taught me how to use the space around me and incorporate that in a wide shot or a medium shot. Also tight shots helped me a lot in the scavenger hunt because I realized for a tight shot you didn't have to hover over the object or person but you needed to get enough detail so that whoever was looking at the video could tell what the main focus is. This scavenger hunt project taught me new techniques while taking a video, that I can't wait to use in my upcoming projects.
1/11/2017 1 Comment "iAm Alysha" VideoIn the beginning of the semester, Mr.Goble asked us to capture interesting things in our lives that would tell the class about who we are; just to get a better understanding of who you are and what your are like due to the fact, that some of us don't know eachother. During the iAm videos, I found it hard to pick which pictures to choose from. I had so many pictures and I had to narrow it down to maybe 20-30 so, I found myself contemplating what picture I like more or, for instance, my family there were a lot of pictures and many people but, I was not able to add everyone in because I only had eight slots to fill in so, I thought it was hard to incorporate everyone. The other hard part during the video process was trying to upload my video on to school tube and it wasn't the uploading that was the major problem it was like having your video approved and just waiting for the video to go through this whole process. It was also hard because I could not find a solo shot with just me in it,due to the fact that I do not taking pictures by myself so I had to ask my mom and friends what their favorite pictures of me are because I literally could not decide ! My favorite part of this project is being able to tell everyone who I am and I like that it is in a video format because I am used to making a poster which become really boring after you do them every year. So now that it's a video it just changes things up which I think is pretty cool!
